WHO I AM

I began my career in theater and later transitioned to audiovisual work, where I spent many years as a cinematographer and producer before moving into directing. Throughout my professional life, I’ve worked on projects of various formats and purposes, including feature-length documentaries and fiction films. I’ve directed and produced dozens of TV series episodes, some original and others commissioned by networks such as TV Globo, Canal Futura, Discovery Channel, Turner, Canal Curta!, and Red Bull TV, as well as independent production companies like Conspiração Filmes, Ocean Films, and TV Zero. This journey has given me extensive experience working with professional actors, but I also take great pleasure in directing non-actors, whom we invite to play their own roles on camera. I’ve led productions in a wide range of locations and circumstances, both in Brazil and abroad, directing sets with up to 80 crew members, as well as small teams of just five. I’ve also worked as an editor, which is why I like to be involved in the editing and post-production process, because I believe every detail matters when turning a great idea into an engaging, vibrant, sensitive, funny, or thought-provoking film.

Built entirely from materials found in the trash – including 16mm projectors! – Zagati shows a multitude of films for the children in the neighborhood. The session is on Sundays, and starts as soon as it gets dark, but only if it doesn’t rain: the projector is left unprotected on the sidewalk so that it has enough distance from the screen.
